Blog » Top 5 Myrtle Beach Attractions to Enjoy With Your Dog

Bringing your furry friend on vacation with you? In honor of National Pet Day, we’re going to tell you the best places along the Grand Strand to visit with your dog. So pack a leash and some treats, because your dog is going to have a trip they will never forget.

North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex

North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex is a new facility located just over the Main Street Connector in North Myrtle Beach. This park is used for many events such as tournaments, festivals and concerts but is also great for dog owners!  If you’re looking for a fun day outdoors with the family, this is the spot for you. Let Rex hang out with friends at the Waggin’ Tails Dog Park, a 3-acre area with two separate fenced in playgrounds for small dogs (>25 lbs.) and large dogs. The facility also has walking and biking trails, 7 picnic shelters and much more.

Huntington Beach State Park

Located on the south end of Myrtle Beach is Huntington Beach State Park, a nature lover’s dream! This South Carolina landmark is a combination of 3 miles of beach and a beautiful park all in one, which makes it a perfect place to bring your pet. Play Frisbee with Fido or go on a stroll through any of the park’s 3 walking trails. If you’re up for an overnight adventure, the park offers multiple camping sites for RV and tent campers that are complete with electrical hookup, hot showers and restrooms. Other fun things to do at Huntington Beach State Park include freshwater and saltwater fishing, bird watching and exploring Atalaya Castle, a National Historic Landmark. Four-legged friends are welcomed year round, but are asked to be kept on a leash at all times. Dogs are welcome in all areas of the park and on the south end of the beach, but are not permitted in Atalaya Castle and on the north end of the beach.

Barefoot Landing

Barefoot Landing is one of my favorite places in North Myrtle Beach because I can combine my love of shopping, eating and hangin’ with my pup all at the same time! Barefoot Landing is a popular shopping, dining and entertainment destination that is set along the Intracoastal Waterway. Lucky for us dog lovers, they are pet-friendly year round! You and your furry friend can take a walk around the boardwalk and enjoy a variety of shops and boutiques, many stores will have a bowl of water outside so your pet can stay hydrated on those hot summer days. When it’s time to eat, Barefoot Landing is home to a variety of restaurants that will welcome your dog with open arms. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio of Joe’s Crab Shack, Dick’s Last Resort, Greg Norman’s Australian Grille, River City Café, Bully’s Pub & Grill and Wild Wing Café.
